Hello Everybody. I am Sara Buck Doude. …

Hello Everybody. I am Sara Buck Doude. I teach criminal justice classes in the Department of Government and Sociology. Currently, I am teaching 2 sections of Criminology and 1 graduate class titled the CJ system. I finished my Ph.D. in May of 2008. Prior to graduate school, I was a paralegal. I was briefly the bass player for my lover’s one man band: Mississippi John Doude. However, I was fired b/c I do not like to practice.
Now my ideas:
1. Big brothers/big sisters for Criminology
2. GED tutoring in the local prisons for Criminology or Corrections
3. Baldwin Co. Domestic Violence Task Force (continuation from this semester) for Women and Crime.
Have a great week!

See my message to Gerald below. Was thinking specifically with your idea about women and domestic violence. We have a group of students this semester, for example, currently putting together an all women’s backpacking trip (going to be run through Venture Out) – their own idea I want to add – based on their own research of the importance of this type of program for empowering women who would typically “give up their power”. Taking this to a place where students from “your court”, working with their knowledge, could work with my students to bring an experience for a group of women – would be awesome. Some ideas…

Since you are one of the most energetic people I know, your program should be great.

Thanks for the compliment Jerry. That means a lot to me. However, to be honest I start a lot of projects with a lot of energy and peter out by the middle. I need to work on that.
Liz: the women’s backpacking trip sounds very interesting. I need to contemplate how it could be utilized. Thanks for the suggestions.
