As I’ve been thinking about my goals for this as-yet-to-be-designed course, I realize that they don’t exactly conform to the guidelines that we discussed at our last meeting. I’m going to write them down here as I see them now and then maybe tomorrow’s session will help me to think about them in a better light.
1. I want students to discover the successes of some non-traditional mathematicians and to solve problems using their techniques.
2. I want students to investigate local cultural, ethnic or gender biases (from friends, family, Georgia College, Baldwin County) and also to interpret regional or national data and studies on educational bias to help put into context.
