Proposal submission deadline: January 4, 2013.
Proposal acceptance notification will be sent by February 15, 2013
This conference is designed to bring educators and outstanding students together to connect in conversations about active learning and student engagement. The focus of this conference is Best Practices for Promoting Engaged Student Learning:
• through the development of critical thinking
• by using active learning pedagogies
• through the effective use of distance and blended learning
• by developing collaborative models
• by connecting with social networking and mobile learning
The keynote speaker for the conference is Dr. Elizabeth Barkley, internationally known scholar, educator, and consultant. Her interactive keynote/workshop offers a dynamic five-element model for understanding classroom-based student engagement that will serve as the theoretical framework for identifying a wide range of technology-based and technology-free strategies and techniques to promote student engagement.
Faculty presenters are encouraged to propose a session with an outstanding student or team of students to give attendees a chance to hear from students themselves about how these efforts affect their learning experience.
The conference registration fee will be $135, which includes all sessions, the interactive keynote workshop, refreshments, and several meals. Student fees are $35. Hotel rooms at the UGA Hotel at the Conference Center start at $89 per night. Registration for the conference will be available in January.
