This course is designed for upper-level environmental science or biology majors. In Agroecology, we will gain a basic understanding of the fundamentals of agriculture, an overview of the agricultural systems currently in use across the globe, an analysis of agricultural systems from an ecological perspective, and a view of the struggle to feed the world.
Prerequisites: BIOL 2800
- Students will gain fundamental knowledge of the major agricultural systems used in the United States.
- Students will be able to apply basic ecological principles to agricultural fields and food production.
- Students will evaluate modern food production systems in relation to human and environmental health.
- Students will create recommendations for the sustainable production of one major agricultural product.
