I enjoyed meeting all of you yesterday and really enjoyed hearing about your interesting course ideas. I wish I could take all of your courses! I have attached the presentation from our workshop and the homework is repeated below.
I think there was some confusion about pairing. You are NOT required to pair. We just wanted to give you the opportunity to talk with some of the folks in the group to see if pairing would make sense for you.
For those of you that were unable to attend the first workshop, I will contact you separately to arrange a make-up session.

•Use what we did today to identify (3) civic issues or community projects you could use as the nexus for your course.
•Try to tie these issues to a course you are currently teaching or plan to teach.
•Post your three ideas to the blog within one week (Oct 26). Include a brief introduction of yourself.
•Read everyone’s post and comment on several by Nov 2.
•Use the blog as a forum for identifying a partner (optional).
Our next meeting will be on Monday Nov 8 in Dogwood. In this workshop we will investigate writing course goals and will be led by Sandra & George.
Have a great week!
Julia
Hi all – i enjoyed meeting everyone! I am the one who teaches educational technology and library media. I want to incorporate the theme of social justice in an ed tech course. I am thinking of the general Technology for Teachers course or the Instructional Design course. I also teach a course on Distance Learning and can see potential in all three for including the theme.
Community projects might include:
Designing a workshops for teachers
Boys and Girls Club or other afterschool tutoring
on computer skills
Perhaps a design project for a community group
I am really interested in international education, so perhaps the Distance Learning course could do something with virtual pen pals or virtual tutoring
Hello Dr. Metzker-
I thought that I submitted an intro for myself yet I do not see it on the site. Have I not been approved or did my write-up not save?
Thank you –
Kelly
